Senior Minister

Rev. Dr. E. Scott Jones, a native of Oklahoma, earned a B.A. in Religion  and Philosophy at Oklahoma Baptist University, graduating summa cum laude in 1996.  He then became a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and earned an M.A. (1997) and Ph.D. (2001) in Philosophy.  Scott was ordained in 1997.

Scott served in 2001-2003 as Associate Pastor for Student and Family Life at Rolling Hills Baptists Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, which is a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Church.  In 2003, Scott became Associate Pastor for Youth and Education at Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.    The Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ called Scott to be their pastor in May of 2005, where he served until the end of May, 2010.  Scott will begin as Senior Minister at First Central on July 6th.

 

Director of Christian Education

Bud Cassiday is our Interim Director of Christian Education.  Bud wears many hats - artist, professor of English, father, and member of the congregation.  He will serve in this position until a permanent Christian Education Director is hired, mid-September at the latest.

Minister of Visitation

Jim Harmon is our Minister of Visitation. Jim has a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary, and has worked over 30 years in full time ministry. He currently works full time as an Account Executive for Yellow Book, and part time at First Central as our Minister of Visitation. Jim calls on our homebound members, and will also bring communion on request.

 

Church Office Manager

Sara Sharpe is our Office Manager. A native of Omaha, Sara graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a BS in social work. Sara has been a member of First Central for 20 years, and Office Manager for 5 years.

 

Director of Music

Stephen Bouma is our Director of Music and Organist. Stephen is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, and holds a MM in piano performance from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He currently sings with the Omaha Chamber Singers. Stephen is also a composer, and has had works commissioned by Central High School, Hastings High School, and the Clarion Chamber Chorale.
