First Central receives Mental Health Award Jul 20, 2017 | News Scott Jones represented First Central at the Health & Wholeness Luncheon held July 2 in Baltimore, Maryland during General Synod 2017. He accepted on our behalf the Bob & Joyce Dell Award for Mental Health Education for our work to be WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged) for mental health. The award reads: In recognition of your faithful action, the UCC Mental Health Network celebrates that you have voted to become a WISE Congregation for Mental Health. You are a beacon for the Gospel’s mandate for compassion for all and prophetic witness to all. We commend you for being WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged), for increasing awareness about mental health challenges, and reducing stigma about mental illness.
